Five Home Organisation Tips For Busy Moms

There’s just something about a well organised space. It makes me feel relaxed and my mind is clear. As a working mom, it can be a struggle to get time to keep your home organized but tackling one area at a time along with simple daily habits can get you well on your way to achieving this.

Here are a few things you can do to get your space organised.

Declutter your closet

Most of us are guilty of having a full closet yet we struggle to find something to wear because we have forgotten about some of the items we own. Make time to clear out your closet space by sorting out your clothing items into three sections; one for items that you no longer wear that are not in good condition, one for the items that you would like to donate to a charity and another for  items you would like to keep. Keeping the  clothing items you will use and making use of colour coding when packing them will make your closet easy to navigate.

Give away toys

I went through my son’s toys only to discover that so many were still new and some were gifts that he never even got to play with. Teach your kids about sharing with those who are less fortunate and encourage them to help you sort out and clean their toys to give to other kids who need them. Kids usually enjoy a toy when it’s still new only to forget about it a few days later. Make your space organised by reducing the toys in your home and allocating storage baskets for those in use.

Use glass jars to organize your kitchen

Having foods in their original storage containers can make your kitchen cabinets look unorganised and this can make it even harder to find the items you need. Repackaging your grains, seeds and nuts into glass containers which you can also label will make your space look neater. Use suitable containers to sort out your refrigerator as well.

Make use of baskets

Baskets can be really handy for  storing a lot of things around the house. Use them to store things which have no allocated storage area  or to make storage areas neat. You can also use them to encourage kids to pick up after play by allocating one for them to throw everything in before going to bed.

Don’t purchase items you don’t need

It can be enticing to purchase something for your home because you like it but the important question to ask is whether you really need it. If not , avoid buying it as this will just be one of the many items you have in your home but have no use for.

The best way to start organizing your home is to tackle one area at a time so you won’t feel overwhelmed. Plan to reward yourself as encouragement for you to take on the task of getting your space organised.
