Four Ways To Maintain Calm Amidst Uncertainty
We are living in a time that’s filled with uncertainty while we still have the day to day responsibilities we’ve always had as working moms. Your family still expects the same love and care but it can be challenging and even overwhelming because of all that’s happening around us. This pandemic is nothing any of us has ever experienced and therefore is no need to be hard on yourself if you are struggling to stay calm.
If you are feeling anxious, here some strategies that you can use to help you cope.
Always remember God is in control
God’s position in our lives hasn’t changed. He remains a loving Father who cares and has our best interests at heart. Spending time in God’s presence is rejuvenating. Allocate some quiet time to spend in reading the Word and prayer. Also instill the same message to your little ones who might be failing to express how they feel but are experiencing stress and anxiety as well. Reassure and pray for and with your kids.
Have positive conversations in your home
We hardly ever get to hear uplifting stories , be it in the media or in public. Don’t create the same unpleasant atmosphere in your home. This is not a way of ignoring what’s happening around us but as much as we acknowledge it , we need to maintain a positive spirit and put more effort in caring for our physical and mental well being. Let your family home be a sanctuary of hope and joy by avoiding putting emphasis on the stressful conversations you’ve been hearing throughout the day.
Social media detox
If you find that being on social media is negatively affecting your emotional well-being, it might not be a bad idea to take a social media break for a set period of time. This will help you to be more present in your day to day while creating an opportunity for you to see that all is not lost , we can still be hopeful and enjoy the blessing of each new day.
Stay informed but maintain a healthy balance
You don’t have to spend hours trying to get to the different statistics in all parts of the country as this can stair up negative emotions and even fear for some. Pay attention to necessary reports that keep you well informed but don’t burden yourself with the heaviness of all the turmoil around you. Be selective with what you listen to or read and instead of focusing on negativity, find motivational material to read and meditate on.
Despite what we are facing, I believe we all have a lot to be grateful for. Appreciate and be there for your family and keep believing that better days are ahead.
