How To Invest In Yourself

How To Invest In Yourself

When was the last time you did something that was entirely about you and had nothing to do with your kids or family as a whole? The answer to this question won’t come so easily for most of us because moms hardly ever feature on their own priority list.

Motherhood has a way of making us think that everything about us has to be put on hold and this couldn’t be further from the truth. As our lives change and our kids grow, we should follow suit and not be left behind only to wonder much later about what could be different had we taken that chance or grabbed an opportunity that once presented itself.

There are a few things you can do to start investing in yourself.

Read more books

There is no better way to gain knowledge than by taking time to read. If you have any new interest, head over to the book store and get yourself reading material that will equip you with the knowledge you need. There are also numerous free resources that you can get online.

Take short courses

You are never too old to learn. Be it to grow your career or to acquire a new skill, taking a short course can help you achieve that. Be a lifelong learner and as you empower yourself, you will be setting a good example for your little ones to follow.

Get a mentor

If you know someone has done something that you aspire to do , why not approach them and ask for advice. This will not only give you a head start but a mentor will give you the support you need along your journey and provide answers to any questions you might have.

Stop waiting for the right time

Procrastination is the thief of time. I’ve come to learn that we have and make time for those things that we feel are a priority in our lives. It may be a career change, starting a business or anything new you want to do , go ahead and do it because there will never be a perfect time.

Do what makes you happy

We all have that one thing that we love to do but don’t give ourselves the time to do it. I’m from a very musical family and although I don’t get to do it often, it fills my soul with so much joy to spend time in song with my siblings. Maybe it’s a hobby or time with friends, allow yourself to do what you love every now and again.

Your personal growth is something you have to work on and it won’t simply happen because you wish it would. The journey to who you desire to be or what you wish to achieve will also not be a smooth one. It will take determination and focus on the ultimate goal to keep you going while keeping in mind that the experiences along the way, whether good or bad, are there to shape your character and prepare you for where you are headed.
